Lately, I've been coming across a lot of articles and discussions on the definition of beauty, and the superficiality of society. One that really stood out to me this week was an article on body hair.
Why is it so "disgusting" or "gross" for a woman to have any form of hair on her body, apart from that on her head? Men have hair almost everywhere, and that's not seen as "gross".
Way back when, women didn't shave (or bathe) very often. They bathed maybe four times a year, and probably shaved even less. Were they seen as unattractive because of their lack of bathing and amount of hair? Nope. They were still seen as sexy beings (or... more accurately a womb for a child)! So then, why are women today ridiculed and labeled because they missed a few days shaving?
Think about it this way. A man has hair everywhere on their body. They don't shave their legs as a rule. Women do. They don't shave their armpits. Women do. They don't shave their nether regions as often as women do, though it's more commonly seen now. Women laser away their peach fuzz on their faces and stomachs. Men are seen as attractive with or without. What is with this?
In my opinion, as long as one bathes regularly and uses deodorant, there is nothing wrong with a little body hair. I want to know what you guys think. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
somewhat related to the idea of beauty--the new urban outfitters campaign that features shirts and jackets that say "eat less." really? men can get away with being fat and hairy, but women can't be remotely either of these things.
